In today’s Sunday School Lesson we consider Exodus 17. Having just been supplied with manna and quail, the people grumble again. The Lord answers with gracious provision, supplying water from a rock, struck by Moses’s staff. This incident, captured in only a brief passage, will be referenced in the Gospels, the Psalms and even in Hebrews. It’s an important moment in Israel’s history and points us forward to the Lord’s ultimate provision for His people.
